Q: What are the quidelines for artificial flowers in the cemetery?
A: Artificial flowers ARE permitted in the cemetery from November 1st to April 1st. On April 1st all artificial flowers will be removed from the cemetery. From April 1st to November 1st only live flowers are permitted. On November 1st of each year the grounds are given an annual housecleaning. All dead flowers and flowerpots will be removed. Shrubs and bushes will be trimmed. Please remove any artificial flowers, flowerpot or vase you wish to keep before April 1st.

Q. Are flower beds permitted around the monument?
A. Flowerbeds may extend only 12 inches from the front of the monument. Nothing may be placed at the foot of the grave or behind the monument. Cemetery personnel will remove flowerbeds exceeding 12 inches or flowers placed at the foot or behind the monument. Should a flowerbed become unkept or overgrown the cemetery reserves the right to remove such bed.

Q. May I plant a tree or bush on a grave space?
A. If an owner desires to plant a tree or shrub at a grave space the consent of cemetery management must be obtained. If any tree or shrub situated in any lot shall become detrimental to the adjacent lots, it shall be the right of the management to remove said trees or shrubs.

Q. May I place a Christmas wreath or poinsettia at a grave?
A. Christmas wreaths and poinsettias may be placed in the cemetery beginning with the Thanksgiving holiday and may remain until the following February 15th. Lot owners wishing to retain these items should remove them prior to the February 15th date when they are removed and disposed of by cemetery personnel.

Q. How will I know the cemetery will be properly maintained after I have passed away?
A. The Winchester Cemetery is governed by the Kentucky Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division. The cemetery is required by law to deposit 20% of each lot sale into a Statutory Trust Fund. This ensures that there will always be funds available to preserve and maintain the cemetery grounds.

Q. Does the cemetery offer a payment plan?
A.The Winchester Cemetery offers a payment plan on the purchase of grave spaces. A 20% down payment is required and a finance fee of $100 is required up front with the balance divided into 12 equal payments with no interest charged. No monument shall be placed on any lot against which there exists any indebtedness.

Q. What are the visiting hours of the cemetery?
A. The cemetery remains open all year round but only during daylight hours. The Board of Directors kindly requests that all visitors be decently clothed, including shoes and shirts. Please refrain from parties, picnics, loud music or sports activities of any kind on the cemetery grounds.
